The class of 1970 gave a unique gift to UMBC upon their graduation: a $13,000 emergency student loan fund (about $75,000 in today's dollars). I think what's the most mind-blowing about this is that back in 1970, $13,000 was enough to pay for a full year of tuition for about 25 students.
